Rent night vision? Does that mean I need to spend two tokens to use them, but then they’ll be gone? When? Will they disappear once the quest is over? Or maybe they’ll only be available for an hour? Either way, it’s daylight robbery!

Still, there’s nothing I can do besides walk away from the quest without them.

He sighed and purchased the item. Instantly, his surroundings lit up and his line of sight increased roughly sixty feet.

Turning around, he looked up and out of the entrance. The light blinded him a little, but he could still see the blue sky. He spun back around and his eyes adjusted once more.

So the night vision doesn’t make me blind in the light.

He then checked the system for a time limit on the night vision, but he couldn’t find anything. Even the goblin’s active DNA showed he hadn’t gained the strength. He gave up and hoped they’d last until he finished the quest.

At a brisk pace, Mason walked to the bottom of the stone steps, searching the area. The ceiling was lower at the bottom of the stairs. It was only high enough for a goblin to stand up properly, but if a human adult tried it, they would have to kneel or crawl.

Looking down the tunnel, he saw the walls zigzagged as different sized rocks protruded out. This would increase the amount of time it’d take him to navigate through the tunnel.

On the ground, he saw numerous yellow lines heading deeper into the tunnel. Some were bright while others were barely noticeable. They overlapped each other and slightly turned left or right depending on where the rocks were in the walls.

There’s got to be loads of goblins inside, but I don’t know how long these lines last. Is each line the same goblin coming in and out often, or are each of these lines for each goblin and it stays for a day, week, month, or possibly even a year? Do the different shades of yellow represent something else too?

Following the lines while avoiding the rocks, he soon came to a fork in the path. No other goblin was in sight.

Taking out the parchment and piece of charcoal Ben had given him, he drew two vertical lines close together at the bottom of the parchment and then added two horizontal lines to show the steps. After, he drew a fork in the path before putting them back in the inventory.

Which way to go? All the lines go left, but I think I’ll go… right!

Walking close to the fork, Mason turned his head around and saw a long and narrow path. There were no goblins, so Mason continued.

Badump.

When he was roughly halfway down the path, something grabbed him by the shoulders. His heart rate went through the roof and he gasped in fright.

Spinning around with clenched fists ready to fight, he saw a goblin staring at him.

“Trap!”

Mason’s eyebrows arched up in surprise as he turned around, looking at the narrow path. Looking at the grey walls and ceiling, he couldn’t see anything that showed there was something wrong with the path.
